Kiln Dried and Hand Planed - could use some finish sanding- stress cracks/voids - some rustic figure and edges - some slight planer striations could use finish sanded - rustic modern appeal stress cracks present - strictly aesthetic - in no way affects the structural integrity of the material - rustic void present (approximately 27 x 5 inch void) leave as is or epoxy fill - great rustic home piece
At ohiowoodlands, we air dry our material 3-4 years before kiln drying. We generally kiln dry 1 month per inch of thickness. Our material is very stable. In over 19 years we’ve never had a return due to moisture or movement - please use caution when purchasing thicker mantel material - adequate time is needed to properly dry thick material - at Ohio Woodlands, we average 3-6 years from when a log is milled to the time is has been properly air/kiln dried and available for sale.
Please do not hesitate to ask the seller about their drying process. Your statement piece deserves to be properly dried.
