***Beautiful Rustic Maple Statement Piece***takes a stain very well
Weighs 60.8 Pounds
Awesome reclaimed maple mantle beam - reclaimed from wind damage on our tree farm
could use some finish sanding- some longer stress cracks/voids (please see images) - some rustic figure and edges - rustic modern appeal - stress cracks present - strictly aesthetic - does not affect the structural integrity of the material - some live edge spots - very cool grain patterns - lots of rustic figure - some areas will absorb more finish - a few wormy areas - loaded with figure - kiln dried - hand planed with some planer striations - the 4 edges are not perfectly flat - lots of rustic figure and stress cracks
At ohiowoodlands, we air dry our material 3-4 years before kiln drying. We generally kiln dry 1 month per inch of thickness. Our material is very stable. In over 19 years we’ve never had a return due to moisture or movement - please use caution when purchasing thicker mantel material - adequate time is needed to properly dry thick material - at Ohio Woodlands, we average 3-6 years from when a log is milled to the time is has been properly air/kiln dried and available for sale.
Please do not hesitate to ask the seller about their drying process. Your statement piece deserves to be properly dried.
